Riding Experience: _____ Level 0, I have never been on a horse, or have ridden very little. _____ Level 1, I have ridden, but am a beginner rider. I can control a responsive horse at walk and possibly the trot in a controlled arena/trail ride. _____ Level 2, I have ridden, but am a novice rider. I can control a responsive horse at walk and trot in a arena or on an open trail, possibly a canter (lope). _____ Level 3, I am an intermediate rider. I can ride beginner -intermediate horses and in some difficult terrain at walk, trot, canter, and run. _____ Level 4, I am an experienced rider (can ride intermediate horses in difficult terrain and at walk, trot, canter, run). _____ Level 5, I am an expert rider with jumping, mounted firearms, or very difficult terrain experience and at all gaits with all types of horses. This riding adventure has a limit of 265 lbs. for riding horses. Call for specifics and questions. Uniform/Equipment Items: Tack: ______ I will provide my own historical horse tack and saddle. If using your own Cavalry Tack, additional pieces may be available for rent to dress out your saddle for missions, reenactment, and parades (i.e. surcingle, breast collars, grain bag, nose bag, cinch, canvas/blanket rolls, picket rope/pin). ______ I will rent cavalry tack and saddle on my arrival ($235/week). Firearms: Students will be able to shoot the School's weapons of the period (45LC Single Action, 45-55 Trapdoor Springfield and possibly more) at the Firing Range; as well as the 45LC mounted shooting course - no matter what firearm they rent. Rentals are for use during training, riding missions, and reenactment. ______ I will bring my own historical firearm(s) listed. _____ A .45 LC 7.5 inch Barrel for cavalry trooper; can bring ______1873 Springfield trapdoor Carbine 45-70 or I will rent the checked below items ______ I will rent a cavalry pistol on my arrival (Select- ______ $30 - Blank Firing 45LC replica Pistol (safest) or ______ $95 45LC revolver. and/or _____ $95 Springfield Carbine. Free Rubber 1873 Springfield Carbine replica w/Carbine sling & snap are issued; these are lighter and more comfortable than a real carbine. During live fire and other trainings, 45LC pistols will be used by all; as well as 1873 Springfield 45-70 trapdoor carbines as needed, no matter what item they rented. Rental pistols are for training periods, riding patrols/missions, and reenactment. Due to our limited number of 45 LC pistols rentals available and they will be on a first come (reserved), first served basis. We have some rubber replicas of 45LC pistols and 45-70/45-55 Springfield trapdoor carbines available.
